About John D. McCord and his Legal Family
I have been practicing law in Etowah and all surrounding counties since 1984, for 33 plus years. My areas of practice are Divorce, Child Custody, all types of Family Law, Probate, Estates, Will Contests, Criminal Law of all types, Personal Injury and General Practice of Law. I love jury trials, bench trials, and trying cases in Court is my first love. I am proud of my reputation with the other attorneys and with my clients and the courthouse staff.
My McCord family on my father’s side have been lawyers for many years. My great-grandfather, William Henry Harrison McCord was a lawyer and practiced law during the Civil War in North Alabama. My grandfather, Edgar Oliver McCord practiced law and served as Mayor of Albertville until a tornado forced the family to move to Gadsden, Alabama, where he continued his practice until his death in 1942. One of my grandfather’s sons, Roy Davis McCord, who was my father, was in partnership with “Mr. E.O.” for several years. Roy Davis McCord was a fixture in North Alabama during his impressive 63 year legal career, ending in 1985 when he passed. At the time of “Roy D’s” passing both my brother, Roy O. McCord and myself practiced a short while with our father, the highlight of my career. “Roy O” and myself continued as partners in the practice until April of 2016. Roy passed in 2017 after a long and distinguished legal career.
I am married to my beautiful wife of 33 years Susan Rollins McCord, and we have two fine children, John Rollins McCord, 27, and Sara Katherine McCord, 23.
If you choose to retain my services, you get an aggressive bulldog of a lawyer. People, lawyers, and courtrooms do not intimidate me. I take each case personally and you get my maximum effort every time.
Please consider putting me to work for you.
